Our 30 Favorite Places We Ate at on Route 66

    August 7, 2026 - By Jen

One of the questions we get asked the most after spending more than three months traveling Route 66 is, “What was your favorite part?” Josh never hesitates with his answer: the diners. Sure, the roadside attractions, quirky museums, and historic landmarks are what draw most people to the Mother Road,…

The Ultimate Route 66 Itinerary: Our 3-Month Road Trip

    July 22, 2026 - By Jen

We spent more than three months exploring every corner of Route 66 for its 100th anniversary, and we’d do it all over again. As full-time RVers, though, we couldn’t simply take a three-month vacation. We left our home base in the Chicago suburbs in late February, balancing work, everyday life,…

Exploring Route 66 in California and Arizona: Our Return Trip

    July 15, 2026 - By Jen

After reaching the end of Route 66 in Los Angeles, it was time to point the truck east and begin the journey back toward our home base in the Chicago suburbs. Rather than retracing our steps as quickly as possible, we used the return trip to revisit a few favorite…

We Visited the Real-Life Route 66 Locations That Inspired Cars

    June 19, 2026 - By Jen

Disney and Pixar’s Cars might be an animated movie about talking cars, but many of the places and people that inspired it were very real. Before creating Radiator Springs and its colorful cast of characters, the Pixar team took multiple research trips along Route 66, meeting business owners, exploring small…

Route 66 In Kingman, Arizona: A Full-Time RV Travel Recap

    May 18, 2026 - By Jen

Kingman, Arizona ended up being one of the most unexpectedly memorable stops of our nearly three months traveling Route 66 as full-time RVers. What originally started as a planned stop along historic Route 66 quickly turned into multiple visits thanks to truck repairs, which honestly gave us the chance to…

A Week Near Flagstaff: Hidden Gems, Crowds, and Unexpected Favorites

    May 5, 2026 - By Jen

We spent part of our Route 66 trip based just outside of Flagstaff, using it as a home base to explore both Flagstaff and nearby Sedona. While we were in the area for most of the week, our time was actually pretty low-key, we stayed in Munds Park, worked during…

    April 15, 2026 - By Jen

This stretch of our anniversary trip along Route 66 took us through a part of Arizona that’s easy to overlook, but really shouldn’t be. Between Albuquerque and Flagstaff, we slowed down to explore a few classic stops along Route 66 Arizona, spending time in both Holbrook and Winslow. This area…

I went to the Norman Rockwell Museum expecting bas I went to the Norman Rockwell Museum expecting basically ALL Norman Rockwell, but there's actually a lot more going on. The current exhibits bring Rockwell together with other American artists by theme, and I really liked seeing the work in that context.

(and yes there was a sign saying it was ok to pick an apple)
