Our Experience at 3 Flags RV Park
3 Flags RV Park isn’t the kind of campground you book for jaw-dropping views or a resort-style vibe, and that’s okay. The campground itself is well maintained but fairly simple, with a big, open layout and decent-sized grassy sites that make it feel comfortable enough for more than just an overnight stop.
Where this park really shines is as a home base for exploring Rapid City and the Black Hills. It’s close enough to town to make errands, dining, and attractions easy, but just far enough out that it doesn’t feel like you’re camping in the middle of the city. There is some highway noise, especially during the day, but it never felt overwhelming and quieted down enough at night for us.

One thing worth noting: South Dakota is a popular state for RVers to establish domicile, and because of that, this park would be a solid option if you’re coming into Rapid City for paperwork, appointments, or other admin-type tasks. It’s practical, easy to access, and set up for short or extended stays.
We also had good experiences with the people here. The staff was friendly and helpful, and fellow campers were welcoming, the kind of place where people say hello when they walk by but still respect your space.
Overall, 3 Flags RV Park worked well for what we needed: a convenient, comfortable base with easy access to both city activities and the Black Hills, without a lot of extra fluff. If your priority is location and functionality over scenery, this campground does the job well.
