Route 66 RV Ranch Review: Our Favorite Campground in Amarillo, Texas

Route 66 RV Ranch is a privately owned RV park located just off Interstate 40 in Amarillo, Texas. Its convenient location, well-maintained facilities, and easy access to everything in town have made it one of our favorite stops along the historic Route 66 corridor.

In fact, this is now the campground we’ve stayed at more than any other since starting full-time RV life. We’ve stayed here three separate times, first in fall 2025 and then again on both the westbound and eastbound legs of our three-month Route 66 road trip. When we know we’ll be passing through Amarillo, Route 66 RV Ranch is usually our first choice.

One of the biggest reasons we keep coming back is the location. Amarillo is one of the most convenient places to stop while traveling across the Texas Panhandle, and the campground provides quick access to Interstate 40, Route 66 attractions, restaurants, grocery stores, and just about any service an RVer might need.

If you’re looking for an Amarillo RV park with full hookups, useful amenities, and a location that makes travel days easy, Route 66 RV Ranch is worth considering.

Camping & Amenities at Route 66 RV Ranch

Route 66 RV Ranch offers both short-term and long-term RV sites, making it a good option whether you’re spending a single night in Amarillo or staying awhile to explore the Texas Panhandle. The campground has 53 full-hookup sites, including 28 pull-through sites that can accommodate larger rigs.mNightly rates are typically around $58 per night, though discounts are available. We were able to use a return guest discount during our stay, and the campground also offers military discounts.

Check-in is available from noon to 6 p.m., with after-hours check-in options available if you’re arriving later in the evening. Check-out time is 10 a.m. If your plans change, the campground offers a fairly straightforward cancellation policy. Reservations canceled within 48 hours of booking and at least seven days before arrival receive a full refund minus a small processing fee and any online booking fees. Cancellations made two to seven days before arrival receive a 50% refund of the first night’s stay, while cancellations within two days of check-in are non-refundable.

In addition to full hookups, Route 66 RV Ranch offers a solid selection of amenities for travelers. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, showers, a small fitness room, and a recreation hall with games and gathering space. There is also a fenced dog park, which is always appreciated when traveling with pets.

Our Review of Route 66 RV Ranch

We’ve now stayed at Route 66 RV Ranch three different times, once in fall 2025 and again on both legs of our Route 66 road trip, and it has consistently been one of our favorite places to stay. The campground is always clean, quiet, and very well maintained. The sites and common areas are kept in great shape, and the staff have always been friendly and helpful whenever we’ve needed anything.

One thing that really stands out is the clubhouse. We don’t usually stay at RV parks with many amenities, so we tried to take advantage of them during our most recent visit. We used the fitness room several times and were impressed by how nice it was. The clubhouse also includes laundry facilities, showers, a kitchen and living room-style gathering area, and a game room with kids activities too.

Another reason we keep coming back is the location. Route 66 RV Ranch has easy access to just about everything in Amarillo. Amarillo always seems to become our errand stop when we’re passing through because it has all the stores and services we need. During one stay, we were in the middle of replacing our RV sink and ended up making multiple trips to the hardware store, which was only a few minutes away. Home Depot, Walmart, FedEx, Discount Tire, the post office, and plenty of restaurants are all conveniently located nearby.

If you’re looking for an Amarillo RV park that combines a quiet atmosphere with clean facilities, useful amenities, and easy access to town, Route 66 RV Ranch is a campground we’d happily stay at again.
