It’s no secret that we love spooky season, and now that we’re living full time in the RV we’ll be experiencing Spooky Season on the road! I decided I needed more RV and camping themed pumpkin carving stencils to go with our new life- so I made some! And, of course, I gotta share them with you. So get into the fall spirit with these free camping and RV-themed pumpkin stencils! Whether you’re parked at your favorite campsite or decorating your front porch at home, these stencils will add a fun, outdoorsy touch to your Halloween pumpkins.
How to Use Downloadable Pumpkin Carving Stencils
1. Download & Print the Stencils: Click the download button to grab your favorite designs. If your pumpkin is especially large or small, you can scale the design to fit.
2. Prep Your Pumpkin: Start by choosing the perfect pumpkin. Cut off the top, scoop out all the seeds and gunk, and scrape the inside walls to about an inch thick where you’ll be carving.
3. Attach the Stencil: Tape the stencil onto the pumpkin. If the stencil doesn’t lay flat, make small cuts along the edges of the paper so it molds to the pumpkin’s curves.
4. Choose the Right Tools: I’ve carved a lot of intricate pumpkin designs over the years, and I like basic but sturdy tools. A good size handle is important, but I only need a poker tool and 1 or 2 knife options. Some kits have lots of fancy tools, but I don’t think they’re worth it.
5. Transfer the Design: Use a pin, toothpick, or pumpkin carving tool to poke small holes along the lines of the stencil, transferring the design onto the pumpkin’s surface. I like to rub a little baby powder or flour on the pumpkin after this step- the powder will stick in the holes so you can see them better.
6. Carve Your Pumpkin: Remove the stencil and use the dotted lines as your guide. Start carving slowly. For large sections, divide it into smaller sections as you go.
7. Light It Up: Once your carving is complete, pop in a candle or LED light, and watch your camping-themed pumpkin glow!
