Camping at Badlands Hotel and Campground
This campground has a solid variety of sites, whether you’re in a big RV or just rolling in with a tent. It’s a mix of pull-thrus and back-ins, hookups and no hookups- so you can pretty much find whatever setup you’re looking for.

- 50/30 amp full hookup pull-thru
- 30 amp full hookup

Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, and the campground offers free Wi-Fi that actually worked decently for us.
The comfort stations are a nice perk- they’re private rooms with a shower, sink, and toilet, which is always a win after a dusty day in the Badlands. You’ll also find additional showers over by the camp store. There’s a dump station on-site too, and pricing ranges from $24 for a no-hookup site up to $61 for a full hookup.

We didn’t stay in the hotel ourselves, but we did check it out while walking around, and it looked really nice from the outside. Fresh paint, well-kept grounds, and overall it seemed like it’s being taken care of, which is always a good sign.

Our Review of Badlands Hotel and Campground
We stayed at the Badlands Hotel and Campground for a full week while exploring the national park, and overall we had a great stay. The location really can’t be beat, it’s literally a mile from the park entrance, and you can actually see the Badlands from the campground. It made it super easy to pop in and out of the park throughout the day, whether we were going in for a midday hike, coming back for lunch, or heading back out for golden hour.
Our site was clean when we arrived, and we noticed the maintenance crew was always on top of cleaning up after people left. The staff was friendly and helpful any time we needed something. The showerhouse looked really nice (we used our RV bathroom but peeked in), and everything around the campground felt well cared for, even though the pool was closed for maintenance during our visit.
Since we work remotely, we were around during the day and it was almost eerily quiet- most people were off exploring the park. But in the evenings it picked up a bit, with families cooking dinner, kids playing, and people gathering outside. One night we even watched a storm roll in with some fellow campers, which turned into a fun little hangout.
There was definitely a lot of turnover, people coming and going daily, but it didn’t feel chaotic. Just busy in a way that made sense for a place so close to a national park. One campsite next to us did get pretty flooded during a heavy storm, but most others, including ours, held up just fine.
If you’re looking for a good basecamp near Badlands National Park, this place is a solid choice. It’s a great alternative to the campground inside the park, especially if you’re looking for full hookups or a longer stay. Plus, the price was really reasonable for what you get, especially being so close to the park. We’d definitely stay here again.
